Grief Counseling

If you're really hurting -- if it feels like your heart is forever broken -- if nothing you've tried so far has done any good -- then you may want to speak with a grief counselor. The fact that you're looking at web sites such as mine and thinking about getting some help is a wonderfully positive step.

You can feel better.  It's true that life will never be the same as it was before and you have a lot of work ahead of you, but there is hope. It's true. Talk to someone who can give you the guidance, counsel, and the help you need to move forward in your life. You deserve it and it will be worth it.

...so let me tell you a little bit about myself and my experience as a grief counselor.

I am an Orlando area counselor who has a lot of experience helping individuals who are suffering from the death of a parent, child, sibling, spouse or life partner. Before I moved to Orlando I was a grief counselor at Hospice and Palliative Care in Charlotte, North Carolina helping parents, children, siblings and spouses come to terms with their losses and move forward in their lives. You can read more about my background in my online bio. I also help those who have experienced a loss in the form of a layoff, a divorce, or a complete change in life circumstances that accompanies an illness or disability.

Grief is natural human response to loss, but so many of us still need to participate in our busy lives. That is where I come in to help. We will work together to come up with solutions to honor your grieving process while assisting you to live a life you are meant to live. The experience of grief can leave you feeling alone, anxious, depressed, lonely, fatigued, and confused. A loss can also lead to a new way of thinking and perceiving life.

Grief counseling isn’t only about expressing sad emotions because that will sometimes happen during our work. It’s about finding solutions, dealing with the necessities of life, getting used to all of the changes that come as the result of your loss such as financial changes or the need to learn new skills. It’s about finding the strength and self-confidence to move forward because sometimes a loss can wreck havoc on your identity. It is also about how to figure out how fit the loss in with your spiritual beliefs.

You won't have to go it alone. You'll have me helping you every step of the way. I'll be there to guide you through the difficult parts. I'll help you find your strength and your self-confidence and we'll rediscover together the smiling, laughing happy places that you missed enough to come looking for me or someone like me.

Please don't hesitate to call me if you have any questions. Even if I'm not the right person for you, I would be glad to help you get to where you need to be.
